From ‘Have To’ To ‘Choose To’

How does one go from ‘have to’ mentality to ‘choose to’ mentality? The battle between these choices resides within our own mind. How do you get someone to see they have a choice? Allowing them to choose to or not to, accepting their choice and altering their thought process from feeling burdened to empowered.

It is a matter of applying an attitude of gratitude for all things, all situations and who we have become. Every step up to this point in our lives has led us to where we are. Maybe bliss is the normal state for you or you find yourself still struggling to make ends meet. Either way, it is all a result of the attitude and thought. Changing these thoughts…we change our lives.

Every interaction, every moment is an opportunity to either spread Love or Hate, taking ONE WORD to do it. Depending the word, will determine the vibration of interaction. Hate or ‘have to’ vibrates at a lower level, being that of destructive forces. While Love, ‘choose to’ vibrates at the highest of levels, creating only more Love. By applying a ‘I choose to’ attitude, you are applying a higher vibration of creative forces.

In Power vs. Force, David Hawkins discusses different levels of vibration, breaking down our choices into simple, what he refers to as power words. Another idea is that even our words attract more of what we speak. The Secret, discusses the Law of Attraction, teaching us to redirect our thoughts and attracting more of that which we want. Warning us of redirecting our thoughts and words to only use the “Power Words” to get what we want in life. Our thoughts lead to choice of words, which in turn creates the life around us. There is no magic formula to this Law, but will work every time.  Change your thoughts and words, and the world around you will surely return the favor.

In the Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz discusses Toltec Wisdom at its basics. These four guidelines, if followed, can lead to a happier and more simple life. He discusses four agreements: Be Impeccable with your word, Don’t take anything personally, Don’t make assumptions, Always do your best. While all are beneficial he emphasizes the greatest of these being Impeccable with your Word:

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean.

Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.

Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and Love.

How does one person change the words they speak? Re-align your thoughts to that of Love. When we align our thoughts, we align our reality to that which we desire. Why not change the thought to something of gratitude?

How does one change from ‘Have to’ to ‘choose to’? Same answer…align yourself with that of Love. Or simply…simply see every moment has led us here and we always have a choice to do whatever fills our day.

But what about the poor person who doesn’t have a choice? They still have a choice. Whether they choose to work hard and climb out of their current circumstance or they choose, merely, to be happy…always a choice. Whether they choose to be a victim or they choose to be prosperous…still a choice.

Until we come to a place of ‘I choose to’, we may never really know what freedom feels like. Whether we are a street person or a top executive, we have choices. We can accept our current positions or take steps to change them. We can see the daily responsibilities as burdens, and that we have to do them, or we can choose to see them as a gift…aligning our thoughts with ‘I choose to.’

Stepping into the Canvas with a choice. Today I choose to do whatever is on my agenda and intend on doing so with gratitude. Yesterday’s burdens have dissolved and tomorrows blessings begin with today. Just for today I will see my life as on purpose…choosing to live it to the fullest. Dissolving ideas of never having enough, adopting daily abundance into my life. I no longer Have To do anything….instead I Choose To be happy.
